Burnable Garbage — Collected Twice a Week
This includes everyday garbage.
Such as;

- rubber products

Recyclables
This includes ;
- aluminum cans
- glass bottles

Remove the label and cap from PET bottles before disposing of them.

Plastic containers and packaging should be disposed of in this category.
Be careful!
Some containers, like soy sauce bottles.
May look like PET bottles.
But are actually plastic.
Plese check the label!
They will be marked with “プラ(PE or PP)” to indicate plastic.

Paper Waste — Collection Days Vary by Area
Items are categorized as recyclable paper.

The collection schedule for paper waste varies depending on your neighborhood or local residents’ association.
Non-Burnable & Special Waste — Collected Once a Month
Please make sure to separate rechargeable batteries and gas canisters.
These items can cause explosions or fires in garbage collection trucks if not handled properly!
Examples: Metal items, spray cans, small rechargeable batteries
Spray cans must be completely empty before disposal.
Do not puncture the cans.
Place these items in a transparent or semi-transparent bag.
Write a label on the bag.
Such as “Metal” or “Spray Cans”.
To help the collectors identify the contents.
Large Items (Bulky Waste) — Requires Advance Booking & Fee
- furniture
- home appliances
- large toys
- and similar items
These cannot be disposed of through regular garbage collection.
You must make a reservation through the Kyoto City Bulky Waste Collection Center in advance.

However, the truck doesn’t come at exactly 8:00.

As long as you place your garbage before the truck arrives, it’s okay.
Do not put garbage out at night.
Always put it out in the morning.
